Hello Classmates, always when i talk with my percussion mates, we discuses a lot about which it's the orchestra that we like or haves the best sound, because in percussion and timpani section it could many schools of sound. i remember many times my teacher told me that there are two big schools of sound in the world of orchestra, and it could be the American School or German School, and it's something very difficult to describe because in something of taste it's nothing written. So today i want to talk about Cloyd Duff, he's one of the best timpanist of the Cleveland Orchestra in the 20th century, and he's represent the american school of sound. it's a very charming man when he play the timpanist and made me believe that percussion it's no only strike or punch a drum, it's made a intellectual work to make sang the drums.... Here you can see make singing the timpanis, it such a miracle…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYnRnHPXzcc
